Guide

What each page does, what the numbers mean, and how to find a flip in a few minutes.

Quick start

  1. 1

Look up an item. Press / or use the search bar. The item page shows what you would pay, what you would sell for, and what is left after tax.

  2. 2

Check that the margin is real. A good flip has a positive net margin after tax, a buy limit worth your time, trades on both sides in the last hour, and prices that are not stale.

  3. 3

Let the Flip Finder do the search. Enter your cash stack (for example 50m) on the Flip Finder. It ranks what you can actually buy within buy limits and current volume.

  4. 4

Get told when a price moves. With a free account you can set price alerts and keep watchlists.

  5. 5

Track your results. Record buys in the Portfolio. When you sell, the trade moves to the Journal with profit after tax.

Prices and terms

Prices come from the OSRS Wiki real-time prices, which records Grand Exchange trades reported by RuneLite players. The app refreshes them about every minute.

Buy price
The latest insta-sell price (the Wiki's "low"): what someone accepted when selling instantly. As a flipper, this is roughly what you pay with a patient buy offer.
Sell price
The latest insta-buy price (the "high"): what someone paid when buying instantly. Roughly what you get with a patient sell offer.
Spread
Sell price minus buy price, before tax.
GE tax
2% of the sale price, per item, rounded down and paid by the seller. Items sold under 50 GP pay nothing, the tax is capped at 5,000,000 GP per item, and 48 items (such as the Old school bond) are exempt.
Net margin
Sell price minus buy price minus tax, per item.
ROI
Net margin divided by the buy price, as a percentage.
Buy limit
How many of an item you can buy every 4 hours. Profit per limit is net margin × buy limit.
Volume
Units traded, split into insta-buys and insta-sells. Trades on both sides mean there are real buyers and sellers at these prices.
Freshness
How long ago the older of the two sides last traded. Quotes older than 60 minutes are marked stale. If the newest trade in the whole market is older than 15 minutes, pages show "Data is behind".
Latest vs hourly
Latest prices are single trades and can be outliers. Hourly averages are smoother; the Flip Finder and several scanner lists use them to ignore one-off trades.

Scores

All scores run from 0 to 100 and come with a text label, so you never have to read a colour. On an item page, open Why this score? to see every part. Scores describe the market; they are not advice.

Signals

The signal feed on the Market page lists notable moves on liquid items, graded by strength. They point at something worth a look, not at what will happen next.

Volume spike
The last hour traded at least 2× its recent hourly average.
Spread widening
The hourly spread is at least 2× its usual size.
Spread compression
The spread shrank to 40% or less of normal: often competition between flippers.
Momentum acceleration
This hour's move is at least 1.5 percentage points faster than the hour before.
RSI overbought / oversold
Hourly RSI(14) above 70 or below 30: prices moved fast.
Unusual activity
A move of 2% or more in an hour on at least 2× normal volume.

Open
Flip Finder
Enter your cash stack and it ranks flips by the profit you can actually make in one 4-hour buy-limit window. Quantity is limited by your cash, the buy limit and recent volume on both sides. It skips items with fewer than 10 trades per side in the last hour, an ROI above 30% (almost always a one-off trade), or trades older than 2 hours. Open

Charts

Modes
Price (buy, sell and midpoint lines), Candles, Spread and ROI after tax.
Candles are built
The Grand Exchange has no real candles. The app builds them from averages, and labels them "Synthetic OHLC": open is the previous close, close is the midpoint, and the wicks are the average insta-buy and insta-sell extremes.
Timeframes
Ranges 1D, 7D, 1M, 3M, 1Y, Max set how far back you look; intervals 5m, 15m, 30m, 1h, 6h, 12h set the bar size.
Indicators
SMA, EMA and Bollinger Bands on the price; RSI, MACD, momentum and volatility in panels below; a volume average on the volume bars.
Drawings
Horizontal and vertical lines, trend lines, price markers, rectangles and text. Signed in, they are saved per item (up to 100).
Zoom and pan
Scroll or pinch to zoom, drag to move through time. On a phone, swipe sideways on the chart to pan; swipe up or down to scroll the page.

Account features

Market data, charts, the scanner and the Flip Finder work without an account. A free account adds watchlists, alerts, drawings, the portfolio and the journal. Your data is only visible to you.

Alerts
Pick an item, a metric and a target, at or above or at or below. Up to 50 alerts. They are checked every few minutes; after one fires it stays quiet for 6 hours, even if the condition still holds. Notifications appear under the bell in the top bar, and as desktop notifications if you allow them. Metrics:
  • Insta-buy price: latest high (sell-side) price
  • Insta-sell price: latest low (buy-side) price
  • Net margin: per item after ge tax
  • Net ROI: net margin ÷ buy price
  • Volume spike: last hour vs recent hourly average
  • RSI (14, hourly): relative strength index, 0–100
  • 24h change: midpoint change over 24 hours
  • Flip Score: 0–100 flip attractiveness
Portfolio and journal
Record what you bought, at what price and when. Prices accept shorthand like 1.2m or 250k. Open positions are valued at the current insta-sell price after tax; when you record a sale, tax and profit are stored and the trade moves to the journal.

Questions

Why is the margin negative on a popular item?

Busy items often trade at a spread smaller than the tax. The insta prices are the last trades on each side; a patient offer between them can still work, but the numbers show what the last trades would have left you.

Why does a price differ from what I see in game?

The Wiki only sees trades reported by RuneLite players, and the app shows the latest one on each side. In-game guide prices update much more slowly.

What does "Data is behind" mean?

The newest trade in the data is older than expected, usually because the price feed is delayed. The app keeps showing the last good prices and tells you how old they are.

Is this financial advice?

No. Scores and signals describe recent trading. Prices can move against you, and flipping always carries risk.
